Panama Canal Cuts Daily Ship Limit β
The Panama Canal has reduced its daily ship limit from 32 to 31 due to a drought affecting freshwater supply for locks. Typically, it handles 36 to 38 daily ships. Nine NeoPanamax locks and 22 older Panamax locks will be allowed. The Canal Authority ensures a 44-foot draft, essential for 70% of ships. The drought also impacts the freshwater supplies for Panama City, housing half of the country's population.
